His Girl Friday
2005-01-16 + 9:33 a.m.

I think the past two days have typified my existence here to no end...

Friday night saw me eat, read the sports section for various sports, eat some more, go to the gym. After the gym, I went looking for the second part to my Star Wars novel "Dark Tide: Onslaught," only to find that it wasn't at the Markville Smithbooks. Instead, I bought a Star Trek: TNG book, entitled "A Time to be Born." And Tuesday, Irvin's supposed to lend me Dan Brown's "Deception Point."

So, I came home, ate again, contemplated skipping hockey because the calf muscle on my left leg was feeling really tight but went anyway. I thought I played really well save for a play where I went for a loose puck and missed it, resulting in a goal.

An aside to that: I grow increasingly frustrated with our defense corps for my Friday team (Salvation Eagles). K-ci, on a penalty kill, decided to go for a skate and lead the forecheck. Then, let a guy go right by him which led to the winning goal. Yeah, there was no way I was coming off from my last shift when we tried to tie the game. Especially considering the last time I wanted to go out there but he wouldn't go off.
We didn't tie the game, but I did draw a penalty in front of the net. I'm an absolute magnet for sticks and fists...

Anyway, went to hockey and hurt my knee near the end of the game when someone tripped me and I landed on it. I think it's okay though. I ran yesterday with little pain.

So, came home from hockey, ate one more time and then played Star Wars Miniatures with Ara. Spent some time on the net sending e-mails and such, did some writing, played some video games, read and then slept.

Woke-up the next day, checked my e-mail (just junk), ate while I watched the Raptor game I taped from Friday. Went searching for others who found the Raptors loss as frustrating as I did (32 three point attempts? Why? Just give the rock to Bosh and be done with it), instead I found a funny article on the self-absorbed Tracy McGrady. Went to the gym again. Continued my work-out at home while I watched United go Scouse-busting at Anfield and then ate (during the first half anyway). I showered during half-time and ate again during the second half.

Then I watched a bit of Star Wars as part of CBC's Movie Night in place of the ever absent Hockey Night in Canada just so I could laugh at the one part where a Stormtrooper bumps his head on the door, played some more video games, read and then slept.

Is it any wonder that I continue to lead the single life?
